Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and the Southern Cross Midget

Temora was incorporated into the pioneer aviators ‘barnstorming route’. In 1932 the Hecker airfield was visited by Kingsford Smith and his Southern Cross Midget who took the opportunity to take the townspeople up for ‘joy flights’.

The ticket was issued to Jack Stimson a Temora local who undertook a flight with Kingsford Smith in the Southern Cross from Heckers airfield on 3 June 1932.
