The Skycraft Scout is an Australian designed and built ultralight aircraft.Ā  Built in Sydney, NSW, the scout is powered by a 6 hp engine.Ā  The wings and fuselage are repurposed yacht masts.

A Scout was the first ultralight flown in the Northern Territory.Ā

The Scout at the Darwin Aviation Museum was the first ultralight flown in the Darwin region.Ā  It was purchased by Ron Lawford and made its first flight on the 4th of July 1977.

It was found that the Scout was underpowered in hot and humid conditions of the top end.Ā  Other than early in the mornings during the dry season, the Scout did not have enough power to fly out of ground effect.

Brand new the Scout costs approximately $2000.Ā  At the time, the average wage was $7000.Ā
